To celebrate #ChildrensHospiceWeek, we thought we’d let you know a bit about how we’ve helped Naomi House in Winchester.
Naomi House is a hospice for life-limited and life-threatened children and young adults. They offer an incredible service; allowing kids to have access to much needed emergency, on-going and end of life care. They support families too, with their community spirit and post-bereavement counselling.
Here, at Thomas Cook Children’s Charity, we run a fantastic Community Grants Programme where we ask our amazing customers and colleagues where they’d like to see their donations go. Earlier this year, Naomi House applied to the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity for funding, to support a new high dependency unit at the hospice.
Our donation of over £10,000 means that Naomi House can provide a Long Term Ventilation Unit, so children on ventilators will have somewhere to stay while their homes and care plans are being adjusted to fit their new needs. Building works are currently underway, with the aim of being completed and ready to welcome families from next month.
Kerry and Liz from local stores went to visit Naomi House, to learn more about what services they offer, including music therapy, and the use of outstanding multi-sensory playrooms.
We are honoured to be included on the charity’s recognition tree, and thank our Thomas Cook customers and colleagues for their continued support of TCCC, which means we can fund projects like this one.
If you’d like to see some help go to a charity, organisation or local project close to your heart, you can nominate here.
